“Discovering the importance and untapped potential of the ocean.”

Creating a brand identity for a new museum and research centre in Christchurch, Dorset.

Ocean Hub is a brand identity targeted towards bringing a wide audience of families, schools and researchers to an ocean discovery and education centre.

I wanted to create an identity which was fun, bright and dynamic. The brand colours are based on geological heat maps, and I created a set of visual hooks including waves, dots and circles which represent simplified microorganisms.

The Brief

Animation

I created an animated logo of our Ocean Hub identity, to be used on social media and around the centre. This allowed me to develop my skills in After Effects, learning how to use new effects and transformations.

My final animation includes moving versions of my visual elements from the branding, showing the versatility of the brand and how dynamic it can be.

Touchpoints

I created examples of how the branding would translate into physical touchpoints around the centre including t-shirts, lanyards, tickets and gift shop items.

Promotion

Posters and social media posts to advertise the new centre echoed the same dynamic and fun personality of the brand.
