DIARY OF A YOUNG NATURALIST
Cover design for Penguin’s Narrative Non-Fiction Book of the Year 2021, written by Dara McAnulty.
I wanted to create a book cover design that would represent the audience seeing the world through Dara’s vision, drawing the reader into nature.
My initial design experiments used found objects, which I used to build a pair of “nature glasses”. I also experimented with leaf printing and scanning, which was used to create my final design.
My final design is much more visually dynamic and eye-catching, I used a bolder choice of colours and included the natural shapes with a higher contrast.
